About British White Cattle

Picture
British White cattle are characterized by their white color, with black ears, eyes, muzzles, teats and hoofs. They can red or black markings, but are normally black tipped.  They are a moderately framed, naturally polled animals with a gentle disposition. They are known for their foraging ability, superior maternal instinct, excellent milking abilities and long fertility and ease in calving. Normally calves are 65 to 75 pound and very vigorous - growing quickly.  It is not uncommon for cows to produce into their teens. They do well on a grass based system. They are a heritage breed originating from Great Britain with direct links with the ancient indigenous wild white cattle. Today, British Whites are considered a dual purpose breed, but most are raised for their meat and show purposes. Their meat is very tender and distinctive flavorful.

About Katahdin Sheep

Picture
The Katahdin is a breed of domestic sheep developed by breeder Michael Piel in Maine, United States. He named this new breed after Mount Katahdin - the state’s highest peak. Katahdin Sheep are a hair sheep that easy to raise. We raise our sheep for parasite resistance. Being a hair sheep, they naturally shed their winter coats off in the summer. Their meat is mild, tender and healthy for you. It is truly unlike any commercial breed on the market. It is not uncommon to butcher an older Katahdin and their meat is still flavorful and tender. They are a sturdy breed that adapt well to almost any pastures. The ewes lamb easily and are good mothers. Often, they have twins after their first lamb and live 10 to 12 years.
